Should You Follow a No Salt Diet?

The bad press on salt is a worldwide phenomenon. Having too little of the right salt in your diet can not only lead to heart disease – the main reason the low-salt revolution started – and other health problems!

Doctors and researchers around the globe know the dangers of recommending a low-salt diet but continue to do so anyway.

At best, this is a partial truth!

Is There Any Reason to Eat a No Salt Diet?

Most of the salts you find in your local market – table salt, sea salt, and Kosher salt – are refined.

That means they are bleached with sulfuric acid and bleach before chemical agents – basically heavy metals that include terrifying words such as cyanide and ammonia – are added to prevent the salt from clumping.

The FDA allows the makers of salt to add as much as 2% in chemical compounds to a mineral that is 100% organic in nature as well as an essential requirement to your survival!

Any salt that is “treated” loses the minerals and nutrients your body requires to perform basic system functions. There is a balance of sodium in your blood. Staying hydrated is important but ignoring the necessity for salt creates an imbalance that can lead to health issues.

What’s more…your body doesn’t recognize salt without the trace minerals so therefore treats refined salt as “toxic” – and it is. When talking about what most people think of when you use the word “salt” – yes, it is toxic…it is bad for your health.

Bottom line: your body needs salt, there’s no reason to eat a no salt diet…but not the salt you’re used to!

Refining salt requires it to be heated to extreme temperatures and chemicals added to give it a pure white color, fine grain appearance, and allows it to be poured easily from a shaker.

This processing is done purely for profit. It extends the life of the salt so it can be packaged in cheap cardboard without clumping when exposed to moist environments. It also looks more “appealing” when used by consumers.

Industrial salt manufacturers produce sodium chloride and they make the majority of their money from sales of this product to chemical companies. Those companies then strip the sodium from the mixture – which produces lye and chlorine.

Whatever they don’t sell to chemical production facilities is sold to you…in your grocery store. It is also used as an additive in processed foods to extend shelf life.

Strange because true salt never goes “bad” for any reason! It’s a mineral! All you have to do is rinse it under running water and let it dry and it’s like brand new!

Much like the words “natural” and “organic” – many manufacturers are now using the words “sea salt” to make their product seem more natural and good for you. It’s a lie! The question always must be: has it been refined? If so, you do not want it!

Even “Kosher” salt is refined! Manufacturers simply use larger granules. Koshering foods is the process of removing blood. That’s why all salts are technically “Kosher” – but they are generally produced using the same refining processes.

You don’t need table salt, sea salt wannabes, or Kosher salt…you need real salt.
How to Tell Real Salt From Table Salt

Forget About a No Salt Diet, Discover Real Salt

Real salt is off-white, soft, slightly moist, and tastes exactly like the ocean.

AztecSeaSalt™ is a hand harvested, organically processed, 100% natural sea salt. It contains only 92% sodium chloride compared to the 99.7% strived for by salt manufacturers. Their goal is 100% sodium chloride.

In La Laguna de Cuyutlán, AztecSeaSalt™ is harvested naturally and organically by using the sun to naturally evaporate and separate the sea salt from the water. It causes no harm to the local flora or fauna. Every purchase supports a local economy of salt farmers.

Not only will your body thank you for using a mineral rich salt, you will taste the difference in every bite of your food seasoned with AztecSeaSalt™.

In 1986, Mark Bitterman started a journey to discover the role of artisanal salts in foods he tasted in Europe. Their flavors were layered and complex unlike any food he’d eaten in his life. He has some incredible information on his website including this wonderful recipe below!

Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar Kale Crisps

A university study showed that salt was all that was required to make cruciferous vegetables like kale and broccoli taste good to kids. I can’t believe they did a study on that. Anyway, these kale crisps taste fantastic and are so easy. Your kids, big and small, will love them.

Ingredients:

  • Bunch of kale
  • Tsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp balsamic vinegar
  • AztecSeaSalt™

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F
  2. Remove and discard hard stalks and veins from kale.
  3. Rinse well and dry thoroughly.
  4. Whisk olive oil and balsamic together in a bowl.
  5. Stir in kale to evenly coat the leaves.
  6. Lay kale apart on a non-stick baking tray.
  7. Sprinkle with AztecSeaSalt™
  8. Bake for about 8 minutes, turning over once halfway.

Enjoy!

AztecSeaSalt™, a very special package of salt that comes from La Laguna de Cuyutlán… the same place where the Aztecs got their salt over 500 years ago. Traditional salineros (salt farmers) continue to harvest this salt using an organic, 100% renewable process (evaporated naturally by the sun) — to protect the environment and wildlife.

With your purchase, you are supporting this “small salt economy” of salineros, their families, and their way of salt harvesting. Don’t wait! Supply is limited.
